Dominica

Dominica, the nature island, is one of the few remaining tropical paradises in the Caribbean.  It is a land of mountains, virgin rain forests, rapidly flowing rivers, small intimate beaches, and world class diving and snorkeling.  Located between the French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique, this English speaking island is a country of unspoiled beauty.  Dominica appeals to those looking for their own private Eden and for those wishing to explore an unspoiled world by hiking the many trails or by diving and snorkeling in the clear, clean waters.  Easily accessible by air from the U.S., Canada and Europe, one can breakfast in New York and dine in Dominica or breakfast in London, overnight in Antigua and lunch the next day in Dominica.

Calibishie

Calibishie, a charming village on the northeastern coast of Dominica, is particularly blessed with spectacular beauty and constant ocean breezes.  This friendly community welcomes those who wish to live at a more relaxed pace.  Our home is located just above the village of Calibishie and looks northeast toward Marie Gallante, an island just off the coast of Guadeloupe.  From the broad veranda that extends the length of the house, one looks down on a lush green valley and out toward the sea.  Surrounded by a landscaped half acre of fruit trees, flowers and shrubs, it is an easy place in which to settle into the rhythm of this comfortable world.

Portsmouth

Portsmouth, just sixteen miles east of Calibishie, is located on Prince Rupert's Bay, an excellent place to moor one's boat, to go sailing, diving, and to enjoy the many benefits of the Caribbean.  (A deep water mooring at the south end of the Bay is available as part of the purchase price of the house.)  The home of Ross University, one of the offshore medical schools in the Caribbean, Portsmouth has numerous stores, restaurants, a public library, and a farmer's market where one can purchase locally grown produce.
